Tupu Plumbing Initiative
Tupu Plumbing is a 1-year training and employment program that prepares its participants for the construction and infrastructure industry through hands-on training with wraparound pastoral and cultural support.
This year, six participants (tauira) and a project team of three were employed by Te Aupōuri Iwi Development Trust, to assist the Te Hiku Drought Relief project - Puna Wai Ora, to install water tank systems for Te Hiku whānau.
The Tupu Plumbing project is proudly supported by several stakeholders including Te Rūnanga Nui o Te Aupōuri, Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Takoto, Puna Wai Ora/National Emergency Management Agency, Te Hiku Iwi Development Trust, Ministry of Social Development, Tertiary Education Commission, Te Puni Kōkiri, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Te Pūkenga and private training providers – Education Unlimited, Axiom Training, Mauri Education and Apprenticeship Training Trust.
